EXCELLENTVerified Exciting, educational, extraordinary for children (and adults too) I took two of my grandchildren (boys) to Surrey Hills Falconry for the family experience in July 2026. I had previously gone with two other grandchildren (girls) and expect to do the same with my other three when they are old enough. Laurie is excellent with families and extremely knowledgeable about birds. His love for his birds shines through. Watching him pet them is incredible, but when children get to hold the birds and later have them fly to them they get really excited. The boys' mother told me days later that they hadn't stopped talking about it. They particularly liked the vultures, but the girls preferred the owls!Posted onVerified Great experience! We purchased the family experience for my son's 13th birthday and we all thoroughly enjoyed our experience with Laurie and his beautiful birds. Not only was it a special experience to hold and fly the birds, but it was also a pleasure to hear Laurie share his wealth of knowledge about them. We have done falconry displays and experiences before, here and abroad, and we like these smaller, intimate ones best. Just us, Laurie and the birds for an hour and a half. The birds are beautifully cared for, and quite clearly have no fear and complete faith in Laurie. You’ll be able to fly them and feed them (raw food, you can’t be squeamish). This is his passion, and it shows in his knowledge, love and good humour.Posted onVerified Best day out ever. One of the best days of my life was spent at the Surrey Hills Falconry. I always wanted to see and handle wild birds and so I received this visit as a birthday gift. I spent a couple of hours with the most genial and informative guide, Laurie, who let me hold and feed the birds and experience them flying and landing on my arm. It was brilliant. As well as this, Laurie gave a detailed, fascinating talk on falconry generally and how to maintain the birds' fitness and well being. I saw and handled falcons, owls and vultures! It was an amazing experience and I would recommend it to anyone.
